Points system enabled
The points system has been enabled. For a complete list, see the FAQ section on it. You can view how many points you have by going to “Your Account”. Users who accumulate certain amounts of points are automatically added to user groups, which in turn will unlock features on the site. How many points you need and what is unlocked you’ll have to find out for yourself.
Some things you can get points for:
- Submitting a news article that gets published: 1000 points
- Commenting on a news story: 50 points*
- Voting in a survey: 20 points
In the near future, we also hope to implement a “Rewards System” where you can cash in your points for special online features (like a custom user title on the forum), ThaSauce Merchandise (shirts and the like), and various other items as they become available.
New VGDJ CoHost!
pixietricks writes:
“Ahem! Announcing VGDJ’s newest cohost…
Mr. Andrew “Zircon” Aversa! […] As a remixer, mod, and judge, Zircon couldn’t be more on top of the scene. His dedication should speak for itself, but just in case it doesn’t… He’s one heck of a dude. With a history of busy cohosts, I’m more than relieved that we’re gonna have someone as dependable as Andrew around. Not to mention that we have actually met (and bonded, like seriously!) in real life, so I’m really looking forward to working together!
Zircon goes to school in Philly and lives in New York, which are both managable distances from my own school and home locations, so don’t be surprised if we cook up something special for the near future.
Anyway, I know some of you may be missing Wangless, but hey- life goes on. I think every host brings something different to the show, and I’m certainly looking at this as positive change. John had a great radio presence, for sure, but he couldn’t devote enough time to VGDJ: didn’t want to receive or reply to the emails, hardly ever showed up in our IRC chat, etc. We’re gonna make this a real team effort again, just like the good ol’ days. So please extend your warmest welcomes toooooo Ziiiirrrcccoooonnn! ^_^
P.S. We’re shooting for an episode this coming Monday, but can’t say for sure until we figure out some mic quality stuffs.”

VG Piano has recently released their first site project titled Super Metroid Piano Item. The project is an all piano project remixing tracks from the Super Metroid video game that we all know and love from the SNES
While only having five tracks at the moment, what makes this project most interesting is that it will remain open
“Unlike most of hte game projects I have seen, the projects here at vgpiano will not be sealed off after their inital release. The members of vgpiano will always be free to contribute additional tracks to any game project we have until the entire game is scored”
The tracks currently posted are great, so everyone download

Anyway, some of you may have had the fortune to meet Shawn in person before. I did, at MAGFest. He also participates in DoD and resides in #vgmix.
Be sure to congratulate him when you run into him. 🙂
That’s one good looking cookie…
