joecam’s getting married?

The Crazy Crakaz sent out a MySpace bulletin earlier today, and apparently Joecam is getting hitched 😮

Crazy Crakaz are proud to make the annoucement that lead member and resident fatass Joe Cam is gonna be getting married on March 16th, 2008.

The wedding will be a small little event with only a small amount of friends getting an invite, but it’s still something we wanted to share with everybody.
Fatboy is getting hitched…what’s the world coming to??

VGMusic.com announces Logo Contest

VGMusic announced last week that they are having a logo contest:

The Video Game Music Archive would like to have a logo of its very own. We would like to use the new logo not only as part of a redesign of our front page, but also on business cards, stationary, and anywhere else an organization logo might appear… can anyone say t-shirts! This is your chance to win a $100 store credit to CocoeBiz/VGM World.

See the Contest Page for rules, or to browse current submissions. Contest ends November 30, 2007 (23:59:59 Eastern Standard Time).

Community Digest – October 2007

Hello dearest readers. October is quickly coming to a close, so I believe it’s time for a recap of all the little things that happened this month! A lot of things happened that we didn’t really cover much, so we’re going to regurgitate them for you. Our readers. Our dedicated fans. All two of you. So here goes!

  • Ari “Protricity” Asulin is trying to make amends with certain sects in the community. He began by submitting to OverClocked ReMix in an attempt to patch things up with OCR. Prot also recently made an offer to assist VGMix staff in coding their new site. An offer which was refused by virt, who stated that the VGMix staff has had “EXTREMELY bad luck with volunteer programmers.” (An offer made by some members of ThaSauce staff to assist with VGMix was refused for the same reasons.) On a positive note, virt did genuinely thank Prot for the offer. Amends?
  • Mustin is still producing EPs and yes, he still wants your money.
  • Famous, or perhaps we should say, infamous remixer Sadorf was recently banned from OverClocked ReMix. The given reason? “General douchitude.” Surprising? It’s up to you to decide! Wait, you mean he’s unbanned now? Oh. Well then. Carry on.
  • last.fm listeners fell in love with OverClocked ReMixers after the release of Voices of the Lifestream. For several weeks, Mustin, JJT, Trenthian, and a few others were in and out of the top 5 movers at last.fm.
  • djpretzel has finalized the new OverClocked ReMix submissions standards. All remixes submitted from now on will have to adhere to those rules. Be sure to look them over!
  • It was recently noted that the soundtrack of the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy will be at least in part played by a live orchestra. You can check out a video of the orchestra at GameTrailers.com.
  • Last but not least, ThaSauce staff has begun the planning stage of some serious revisions to ThaSauce and other network sites. We’re trying to keep the planning and discussion open to the community, so you can let your ideas be heard in this ridiculous thread. Or.. anywhere in the forums, really.

So that about sums things up for now. If you think we missed anything else, please, SUBMIT some NEWS! In fact we’re always looking for more staff writers, so if you’ve got what it takes, let me or rama know!

Trax In Space 2 Out of Private Beta

From the front page:

The team at Trax In Space is proud to announce we completed the private portion of our beta testing and the site is now officially open as a public beta. Check back often for new features and changes to the site.
This is a good followup to my last news post. Trax In Space 2 is the second iteration of one of the original “music community” sites like mp3.com or stationmp3.com were. However, Trax In Space’s community was largely demoscene/modscene based, allowing for users to upload their mod files to show to other people. It got so huge that the original site shut down because of astronomical hosting bills. But finally, it’s back, and similar to the first in terms of functionality and userbase. This time around, though, I have an account there. As do some other people you may recognize in my friends list.

A Very Nerdy Non-Canonical Captain S Christmas

It’s Christmas in…August as PBC Productions and Captain S return with a 15-minute special.

From screwattack.com

Description from the website:

“You’ve waited more than 2 months for a new Captain S episode. Well, today is that day! When Santa Claus is kidnapped by the Game Genie, it’s up to Captain S to try and save Christmas. What he finds when he arrives in Video Land is an unexpected prisoner who turns out to be a tad ornery. However, it quickly becomes apparent that without the help of this Nerd, he may not be able to free Kris Kringle. Don’t miss the buddy flick of the summer, 4 months in the making!

And please visit screwattack.com and support the guys that helped bring Captain S to the masses!”

PAX: Penny Arcade Expo!

Well, it’s that time of year once again. The Penny Arcade Expo, which has been running since 2004, and doubling in size each year, is once again coming to downtown Seattle, Washington this month. The dates are August 24th through the 26th.

PAX is an expo for gamers. The festival features tabletop games of all kinds, LAN (you must pre-register to obtain a space, see the FAQs on the PAX web site for more information), a freeplay game area, and much more. It’s basically gamers’ heaven!
Also, PAX has concerts, panels, parties, and lots of other special events such as the Omegathon. What is this Omegathon? It’s a three day elimination tournament with games of all kinds from tabletop, PC and console. The field of competitors is chosen from people who pre-order PAX passes (a total of 20 competitors). At the end, on the final day of PAX, the competitors play a final game (from the first year it was PONG, the second year it was Atari’s Combat and last year it was Tetris), and there’s a huge prize waiting at the end for the winner. Last year’s prizes were a Scion with a custom rim and paint package, a sound system package, LCD screens, and an Xbox 360.

This year looks to be their largest year EVER! So if you’re in the area, or just interested in going for the concerts and panels, go here to register. Don’t forget, it’s coming soon!

Zircon in hospital, send good food and signatures

Andrew Aversa, better known around these parts as zircon, has taken ill. This case of appendicitis has particularly bad timing; he will be unable to attend the Video Games Live meetup in Washington, DC. Various members of the community have taken it upon themselves to prepare a big ecard in an effort to cheer him up.
Smoke writes:

How can you help? Submit your signature in handy PNG, BMP or GIF format with a white or transparent background to [email protected]
and get other community members to send in theirs too. Your signature can be pretty much whatever you want it to be, and you can also include a little personal message. The end result will be compiled into one big card.

Discuss the situation here, or in the room #andycard on irc.enterthegame.com
Also, noon EST (Friday) is the deadline if you want in on this.
