Help Repeal the REAL ID act!

from www.eff.org:
The federal government took another step recently towards forcing you to carry a national ID in order to get on airplanes, open a bank account, enter federal buildings, and much more. But with state legislatures and Congressional representatives increasingly turning against the REAL ID Act, you can help stop this costly, privacy-invasive mandate — voice your opposition now.

Shaels Audio Blog

So I was browsing our lovely, and incredibly convient, Multi-headlines module, when I saw that Shael had made up update on his MySpace blog (which is often quite fruitful). I headed on over to the MS and found that it was an AUDIO BLOG of Shael’s day. Nothing out of the ordinary, of course. Sleeping in, playing video games, making music, Taco Bell, and Grindhouse…but then again it is Shael Riley so you’ll find it’s ANYTHING but ordinary. You owe it to yourself to listen to this.

XOC and his NES Paul featured on MTV.com!

Yes, that’s right. Remember XOC and his crazy NES guitar? Well, MTV got wind of it, and thought it was cool enough to post an interview with him on their site. XOC made a bulletin on MySpace about the interview, which is how I found out about it. He doesn’t really say anything about it himself, though the full interview is available here, along with a picture of him and his crazy hair. And of course, the NES Paul.

Need Hosting? MusicV2.com is offering lifetime memberships

I just found this email sitting in the inbox of my spam address (djpoachedeggs at yahoo.com), from Chris, the founder and maintainer of MusicV2.com:

I just wanted to shoot out a quick email to let
everyone know that we are currently running a Lifetime Membership

Unlike previous promotions of it’s kind however, this offer is
available to both new and current members. If you would like to do so,
you can convert your current Musicv2.com

payment again. All it takes is one payment, one time and your set for
life!*

To take advantage of this offer, please follow the instructions below:

1.) Submit payment through the normal Musicv2.com sign-up page:

http://www.musicv2.com/register.mv2 (it is not necessary to fill out the sign-up form)

2.) After payment is made, rather than creating a new account, send an email to [email protected] with the following information:

Your Musicv2 Artist Name:

Your Musicv2 Artist URL:

Original Billing Email Address: (this is the email address used when you made your original payment)

First and Last Name:

New Payment ID: (this is the transaction ID you will receive after making payment)

Once payment is made and I receive the above information I will
cancel any active billing associated with your account, update your
current account to reflect your new status and send an email confirming
the update.

If you have any questions or need help with anything listed above, let me know.

thanks,

Chris

I suggest you jump on this deal, Rama and I have been MusicV2 users since 2003, and their service has been improving exponentially over the past few years. There are even options to sell your tunes for donations, if you’re cocky enough to try that. Cheers!

Staff Member(s) Wanted

Sakari has a need for more staff members. However the staff members we need right now are not musicians, but from other areas.

Check out this link for more information:
http://www.sakari-infinity.net/opportunities
What I’m really, really looking for right now is a Site Coordinator.
Someone who can be in charge of site content, official emails and
newsletters, some event coordination, and redirecting hate mail to our
good friends at Microsoft. (Note: We don’t get hate mail)

I’m
looking to turn this site into something nicer than what it is, and as
hard as we try, we staff members are only musicians with naught the
skill set needed for this position. It’d be a real perk for this person
to live in Maryland, but it’s definitely not required in the least.

This position comes with the following:

  • Full access to the Staff forums
  • An email account
  • Access to parts of the Admin site
  • Other items to be discussed upon decision

The other position, Asst. Web Developer,
is an experimental position. I’d like to test it out to see how it
works, but I foresee an interesting outcome. The catch? This person has
to be able to keep up with me, thus the high-set requirements for the position.

It’d
be best if this person were in a similar geographic location as me, but
not required – though it will be tough to convince me if I can’t meet
with you face-to-face.

This position comes with the following:

  • Full access to the Staff forums
  • An email account
  • Full access to parts of the Admin site
  • FTP Access to the site
  • Other items to be discussed upon decision

If you know someone or are interested, please let me or another staff member know. Cool

VGMusic’s 10th Anniversary

From VGMusic.com:

“10 years ago today I founded the Videogame Music Archive on a small little corner of Geocities. Along the way, other staff members joined the fun, and the site has grown year after year.
Our hit counter died a while ago, but according to Google Adsense, we
had over 25 million page impressions over the past year! We’re older
than Google (8 years old), Wikipedia (5 years old), and even Slashdot (9 years old).

“Our dynamic community of volunteer staff, sequencers, forum patrons,
and general visitors have kept us going strong! To show our
appreciation, we are conducting our largest giveaway to date: one lucky
winner can get the Top 10 Albums at GameMusic.com!

Contest ends December 25, 2006.”
