Virt blows minds, ears; posts mp3s

On March 31st, Jake Kaufman (better known as virt), had a successful live chip show in New York City. He was preceeded by One Bit Music and Bit Shifter. One Bit Music played the drums live during his set, and then Bit Shifter literally blew the speakers, leaving Jake without tweeters.
As a bonus, Jake is offering the majority of the songs he played for download from his personal website, http://virt.vgmix.com. I highly recommend the “Thriller cover. Cheers.

Mazedude releases The American Album, obtains OC ReMix spotlight

Mazedude‘s The American Album
is an album of 15 video game music arrangements of material exclusively
created by American video game music composers. The album is Mazedude’s
first, and was conceived as an alternative to the overwhelming
attention given to Japanese composers by video game music fans.
Having been released to the public weeks before its scheduled December
1 release date, the album also enjoyed a spotlight at OC ReMix
coinciding with the posting of the Commander Keen: The Armageddon Machine ReMix “Slick Rippin Keen.” According to Mazedude, Slick Rippin Keen “has been acclaimed as the ‘catchiest’ track off the album,” arranging Bobby Prince’s “Make It Tighter.”

The album’s website features a feedback area
where, alongside fan commentary, several of the composers honored on
The American Album have already expressed their appreciation including
Jack Wall, Tommy Tallarico, Jeremy Soule & Peter McConnell, as well
as Doom lead designer John Romero, as it continues to pick up recognition.

In light of working on The American Album for over a
year and offering the finished product for free, Mazedude has solicited
for donations at any comfortable level from fans who enjoy the album.
Along with feedback, those can also be made via the album’s homepage.

Beatdrop – Everlast

Beatdrop’s new album is, plainly to say, awesome. But that word does no justice to Dain Olsen (Beatdrop). This album, dubbed Everlast,
is a mix of many, high energy sounds. Dain makes no hesitation to make
this album kick ass. A swirl of techno and electronic sounds, Everlast
is an excellent balance of all kinds of digital oddities and passages.
The album is definitely in Dain’s innermost, familiar style coupled
with some tracks of new and brilliant flair, from drum n bass to
chillout to techno Hi-NRG.
Everlast is a must-get. Just remember to Paypal donations to [email protected]. Dain has put a lot of effort and money to make this album!

Royal Sefton releases Hellven’s latest album

Royal Sefton III, frequently known as rs3 and a member of Hellven since
its second incarnation, released Hellven’s first solo album since the
netlabel’s return earlier this month. Featuring artwork by Kenji Bliss, “st rotfest and the death monastic”
is a 10-track, nearly 25-minute techstep album whose darker
mood reflects a departure from much of Sefton’s previous work.
Originally released as a part of Ubik’s Auld Lang Syne 2
album “competition,” Sefton fully remastered his entry before
officially releasing the completed album at Hellven. The album’s
ever-present harmonies and no-pause/continuous format are described by
Sefton as one’s experience during the last half-hour before the
impending end of days.
