Nerdapalooza 2012 Lives On, Dates & Location Announced

Nerdapalooza’s head honcho John “hex” Carter has just announced on the official website that the festival will be making a bigger and better comeback than ever before for 2012! Nerdapalooza 2012 will take place on the weekend of August 3rd to 5th at The Social and the Beacham in downtown Orlando, Florida. Both venues will be much larger than previous Nerdapalooza locations; The Beacham will act as the primary stage, holding over 1,200 attendees while The Social will act as this year’s secondary stage that will hold around 500 people. The line-up for Orlando’s biggest nerd festival is also looking amazing as Metroid Metal, Danimal Cannon, brentalfloss, the OneUps, and Random Encounter will be returning once again to rock your world, while other performances will be announced soon.

Touted as a ‘brand new experience’, the festival will be sure to please those who plan to return this year. The Friday Pre-Party is also coming back as a free event with live performances and free food & beer at the Social, with the main performances occurring at the Beacham starting Saturday, August 4th.  Tickets for admission and announcements for discount hotel prices will also be made public on the Nerdapalooza website within the week, so be sure to check back or head on over to the official website to get your nerd on.

Random Encounter Performance Tomorrow @ The Geek Easy

For you Orlando residents out there, we just got word that Random Encounter is playing a free show at the Geek Easy tomorrow, February 24th:

Hey everybody! Did you know we’re playing a FREE SHOW at The Geek Easy in Orlando next Friday the 24th? Because we are! And guess what! We’re playing 2 never before heard songs at this show as well as all of our regular goodies. But make sure to come, because this will be the last time we will play (most) of this set. We’re writing and arranging new music and will not be playing (most) of this stuff for some time! AGAIN, it’s FREE! Star Lake will be joining us and it will be a super amazing time!

With their amazing stage presence and crazy show antics, we’d definitely say that Random Encounter is one of the best live performances we’ve seen in the VGM community to date. This free show is restricted to those 16 and up, so no tweens allowed. And for those who are 21+, you can BYOB (holla!). Donations are also being accepted, so please be generous! Be sure to RSVP on Facebook, as well as enjoy rad tunes from one of the best VGM cover bands out there.

MAGFest X Announced

Predicted to be the “absolute biggest year ever”, the 10th annual Music and Gaming Festival has just been announced.  If you’re unaware of one of the most anticipated events in VGM community, get in the know: started by Brendan Becker in 2002, MAGFest is an annual event by fans devoted to the celebration of video games and video game music for fans. Since then, attendance has increased drastically while MAGFest’s theatrics get bigger and better each and every year.

An official MAGFest announcement has confirmed mind-blowing performances from Random Encounter and The Megas as well as appearances from special guests Arin “Egoraptor” Hanson, mastermind behind the “Awesome” series of flash video game parody cartoons, and Jon St. John, the voice responsible for the badassery of the Duke Nukem we’ve grown to love. More guests and musicians will also be announced soon.

MAGFest X will be held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland on January 5-8, 2012. Pre-register today to ensure your attendance to one of the most exciting events of the year!
