Memories EP released April 25th

So Xerol posts his album, I figure I’d post mine. Last month I released a short ambient EP [an EP is basically a short album, 20 minutes or less, or in oldschool terms a 7″ vinyl]. So far I’ve recieved nothing but positive feedback, which I guess is a good thing, so if you like ambient you might like this. It’s basically 4 tracks and 16 minutes of music. TOTALLY SHILLING RIGHT NOW

My upcoming projects are a chiptune disk for Anime ReMix and a “spiritual sequel” of SoundTempest called The Fifth Garden. I will also likely create another album for Auld Lang Sine 4, whenever Ubik decides to announce that.

Anthony Lofton releases solo album, ”Sensational”

A member of the OneUps over at OneUp Studios, Anthony Lofton (saxophone), has released an original album that has been in the works for some time.
In a post on the OUS boards, Anthony writes:

A CD I have
been working on for a while has finally been released. The title is
‘Sensational’ and though it may not be game music, it is all original
work from me. The genre of the songs feature Smooth Jazz, RnB, House,
Latin. You can check out some demos on my website at http://www.anthonylofton.com.

If you enjoy saxophone music, or are just a fan of the OneUps, this is definately worth buying.

New Shael Album + ShaelRiley.com gets a facelift!

So I was poking around the internet today, looking to check up on some of my favorite remixer’s original works, and I noticed something over at Shael’s LiveJournal.
Apparently the man has just recently released a NEW CD entitled, “Silly Puppy: Songs From the Film P. Rappa’s Nth Mile.” (an obvious reference to the X-Strike Studio’s film.) I’ve listened to a number of the tracks and I must say, like ALL Shael Riley songs, this is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Check it out here: http://www.shaelriley.com/sillypuppy

Also be sure to check out Shael’s new front page (which has had a nice update), and a new single, “Wall.”

VG Piano has recently released their first site project titled Super Metroid Piano Item. The project is an all piano project remixing tracks from the Super Metroid video game that we all know and love from the SNES

While only having five tracks at the moment, what makes this project most interesting is that it will remain open

“Unlike most of hte game projects I have seen, the projects here at vgpiano will not be sealed off after their inital release. The members of vgpiano will always be free to contribute additional tracks to any game project we have until the entire game is scored”

The tracks currently posted are great, so everyone download

Doujin spotlight: Celestia Project Vol. 2, Gekitsui

March 12th saw the release of two doujin events: Celestia Project Vol. 2 ~ Jazz Festival and the third 撃墜王決定戦 (roughly “Gekitsui King Contest”, I think), a VG rock arrangement competition.

(*obligatory Babelfish/Google Translate warning*)
Celestia Project Vol. 2, as you can probably guess, is the followup to Celestia Project Vol. 1, which consisted completely of Square/Enix arrangements and was a massive success with over 80 submissions. Unfortunately, to say that Vol. 2 does not live up to its predecessor is more than an understatement. There were no game restrictions this time around, but all submissions were required to be in a jazz style. There was a disappointing total of 12 video game arrangements, of which roughly half are even listenable (no offense to any contributors who might be reading this). However, the project is perhaps saved by its other half: a collection of 10 original pieces also in jazz style. I personally recommend the ones by millstones, YK, and Tadasuke in particular. The theme for Vol. 3 is as yet undecided.

Gekitsui, on the other hand, with its heavy metal/rock theme, is a real treat for any VGM fan. One might compare this event to a Dwelling of Duels free month uber-competition. Now in its third iteration, original submissions were welcomed this time as well. Coming in at 44 VG arrangements and 24 original tracks for a total of 68 submissions, Gekitsui rivals the success of the Celestia Project Vol. 1. In this tribute to the mighty axe, there is plenty of distortion, overdrive, and wah-wah for all. Voting is being held until the 19th, although I haven’t been able to determine exactly how to actually vote. Results will be announced a week later, on the 26th.

Copies of Toybox NOW IN PRINT! Ready to sell SOMETIME around March

Shael has recently announced on his LiveJournal that he has recently finished the cases for his sale of his original album, Toybox, released at the end of last year. The album will be availible for purchase, from ShaelRiley.com, around March at the EARLIEST and will featured remastered version of the songs, which will remain free for download.

Anyway, I’m only selling the CDs at
Shaelriley.com, and I won’t begin selling them until March at the
earliest. CDs will contain completely remastered tracks of
signifigantly higher quality than the MP3s, which will remain freely
downloadable from the site.

Merry Christmahanakwanzika! w/ presents from Shael!

Christmahanakwanzika…I heard that on TV. Ok ok, I heard it from my brother who TOLD me he
heard it on TV, but ya’know. ANYWAY what’s important here is Shael
Riley has given us all a present today! He released a full length CD of
his original songs, entitled “Toybox”, including the smash hit
(figuretively speaking) The World’s Worst Drum Programmer.
The album can be downloaded, for free, at: http://lobachevsky.homelinux.net/~sriley/Toybox/Final/Toybox.html

And you can comment on the album on the thread in the OCR “Works in Progress/Other” forums at:
