The VS Tour w/ Mega Ran, Willie Evans Jr, Adam WarRock, & DJ DN³

Mega Ran and his cohorts are hitting the road… and your face! In his most recent musical stint, the Capcom-licensed rapper Mega Ran will be embarking on the VS Tour  throughout the United States, beginning in Arizona and concluding the tour with a final bang at SXSW Music, one of the biggest music festivals in the country with more than 2,000 performers. With big names like Adam Warrock, Willie Evans Jr., and DJ DN³ on deck for their first ‘interactive tour’, we guarantee that you’ll be shuffling to what could possibly be one of the best live performances of the year. Oh, and we forgot to mention that Mega Ran plans to hold small fighting game tournaments wherever possible. Who else do you know that does that?!

While the tour is scheduled for this coming Spring, Mega Ran has started a funding campaign with the same name to help raise money for support. With a goal of $2500 in mind and the campaign ending on Tuesday, March 13th, Mega Ran and his dudes have set up sweet packages as incentives for you to help out: $5 will get you audio of the project itself, $10 a physical copy of the VS Project, $15 an exclusive poster and EP, and so on.  The list of locations and dates for the VS Tour is also located below. If interested, please help support Mega Ran’s endeavors into the touring world… We promise that you won’t be disappointed.

Quick Look: Mega Ran’s Jeremy Lin Rap

We’ve really tried straying away from posting any more enthusiastic posts about Mega Ran, but this video is just too good to pass up. Even with Black Materia: Remixes managing to stay on Bandcamp’s top seller list since its January 21st release until recently, Mega Ran still manages to rile folks up with his eclectic rap style and wonderful sense of humor. Enter Mega Ran’s freestyle ode to Jeremy Lin, which made popular headway on both YouTube with over 131,000 views and ESPN today. With smooth lyrics like “First ivy leaguer in the league since Chris Dudley / Must be some kinda desire / To make everybody who doubted you out to be a liar”, Mega Ran’s affirmative image of Jeremy Lin inspires us to root for the underdogs out there.

Kudos to Random for being featured on national television for such an inspirational song. If you enjoyed his rap as much as we did, grab the song for free here.

Random’s Black Materia: Remixes Scheduled for Release on Jan 31st

Especially since we’ve called Black Materia one of the best Final Fantasy VII tributes out there, there should be no wonder that we’re huge fans of Phoenix-based rapper Random. Yes, we’ve probably spoken about him multiple times to the point of rambling like a prepubescent girl would her favorite movie star, but can you blame us? Random’s wonderful work on Black Materia shows that he can still appeal to a universal audience outside of the video game community, which may be seen as a great feat when discussing the inclusivity of the general public in such a tight-knit community.

Speaking of Black Materia, you’re in for a delicious treat. A full year after the original album’s release, Random’s Black Materia: Remixes featuring additional guests, rearranged songs, and exclusive remastered content is scheduled to be made available next Tuesday, January 31st. All production has been once again handled by Lost Perception, in addition to DJ DN3, and mixing and mastering by K-Murdock. There are at least three all-new tracks, with one featuring Adam Warrock. While you preview one of Random’s newest songs from the upcoming Remixes album below, we suggest that you pre-order Black Materia: The Remixes on Bandcamp, obtainable for a mere five dollars.

Quick Look: Mega Ran’s “Pump It Up” feat. Adam WarRock

Although we’ve gushed about his unadulterated expertise in the past, we find it absolutely necessary to show to the world how amazing Mega Ran’s new video is.  Joining nerdcore giants MC Chris and MC Lars this fall for the Race Wars Tour, rap virtuoso Mega Ran has just released a new video with none other than the incredibly talented Adam WarRock, this year’s breakthrough artist at Nerdapalooza. Along with its scandalously catchy beats, “Pump It Up” features the best of both performers — Mega Ran brings his own A-game with superb fluidity, backed by WarRock’s assertive yet unforgettable rhymes. Peep “Pump It Up” above and get ready to start bobbing your head right until the end.

Mega Ran Releases New Video “One Winged Angel”

Surfacing as an update on his Twitter page, Random, also known as Mega Ran,  has just released a video for his single “One Winged Angel”. As a featured performer at the upcoming nerd festival Nerdapalooza in Orlando, Florida, Mega Ran has received significant attention as a distinguished rapper and producer. Incorporating masterfully executed lyrics that blends beautifully with visceral beats produced by Storyville, “One Winged Angel” is a powerful retelling of Sephiroth’s origin story and his following subsequent rage that threatens to destroy the world. Part of Mega Ran’s highly acclaimed Black Materia: Final Fantasy VII, “One Winged Angel” shows that Mega Ran can still appeal to a broader audience outside of the video game community through his own visceral rhymes that literally knock you off your seat.
